Pusa Sadabahar is a fairly new, open-pollinated variety of chilli developed by the Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI). ‘Sadabahar’ translates to ‘Always flowering’, which is very apt once you experience the extremely long growing and harvesting period of this variety, infact it is supposed to produce reliable harvests continuously for up to 3 years! Perennial varieties of crops are something we are always on the lookout for, as they are much better for the soil health and farm ecosystem (low disturbance, as you don't have to uproot, till and replant them every season).
 
Additionally its almost ornamental in appearance, with the plants being covered in clusters of delicious looking peppers. Extremely prolific and ideal for Indian climates. This variety is resistant to common pepper diseases such as bacterial wilt and anthracnose. We happened to get a few seeds from a rural farmer growing them deep in Maharashtra's arid regions. Over months, we’ve been tending to this variety and are excited to make them available for all of you!
