A Truly wonderful species in the eggplant family, that grows into a small tree and produces clusters of small eggplants all year round (for several years!). Turkey Berry is super nutrition rich, highly medicinal, extremely easy to grow and flavorful. The trees are extremely drought tolerant, needing no water even in peak summer, and still flourishing. The unripe fruits can be harvested to use in curries, it has a slightly bitter flavor, but traditional recipes have managed and incorporated that in beautiful ways. Ripe berries are loved by birds, who then take over the responsibility of spreading the seeds around.
 
Turkey berry are also excellent rootstock for eggplants, peppers and tomatoes! The extensive, drought tolerant and highly disease and pest-resistant root system help greatly increase the vigor of the grafted plants; and have even been reported to extend their lives over many years. When used as a rootstock it also improves soil health and extracts nutrients from deeper soil layers, reducing the need for management.
